Data Analyst Job Profile

As a Data Analyst, you will translate all the data collected by the business you are working for into accessible charts, graphs, tables and reports that can be used to solve problems or track business. It will be your responsibility to engage business users to understand detailed requirements and promote the use of particular reporting solutions. 

To succeed in the Data Analyst role, you will need a deep understanding of the popular data analysis tools and databases, as well as being highly analytical with a very fine eye for detail.

Data Analysts work in many sectors, including education, finance, government, manufacturing and pharmaceuticals.

 

 

 

Data Analyst Job Requirements

To become a Data Analyst, you will need:

Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Maths, Stats or similar.

A passion for numbers and creative visualisations alongside strong maths, stats and logical skills.

Previous experience as a data analyst or in a related field providing data-driven business insights and recommendations that will be actioned. 

High-level experience in methodologies and processes for managing large-scale databases.

Experience in handling large datasets and relational databases using SQL and Python.

Understanding of metadata standards.

Ability to analyse existing tools and data-based ad provide software solution recommendations.

Ability to work with stakeholders to assess potential risks.

String communication and presentation skills with the ability to translate business requirements into non-technical lay terms.
